Description

30-day money back guaranteeOur TIPM Plug-In Relay System™ (ASD) is our most advanced long-term solution to resolve fuel pump relay issues.  Positioned above your existing fuses, this part has it's own onboard relay (MOSFET) to turn power on/off to your fuel pump.  If your vehicle fails to start (acts likes it's out of gas) and/or your fuel pump continues pumping after turning the vehicle off (draining your battery), you likely have a faulty fuel pump relay.  Fuel pump relays are soldered to one of six circuit boards located deep inside your fuse box (TIPM), so they are very difficult to access and change.  Please visit our Symptoms of Fuel Pump Relay Issues page for further information.

60 Day Return Policy

Money back guarantee (return for a full refund, less shipping, within 60 days of receipt if you're not satisfied or it does not solve your problem). We are not like your local dealer where parts that don't solve your issue can't be returned. If you find that our part doesn't solve your issue or your problem is outside the TIPM, simply send it back for a refund.

Notes

  • If you have a 2011-2013 Dodge Durango or Jeep Grand Cherokee that had an external relay installed per the recall, this cable will be ineffective because your dealer cut wires under your TIPM.  Read more here regarding how to identify an external fuel relay.
  • This part won't solve problems that are unrelated to your fuel pump (ie. windshield wipers, starter, lights, etc.).
  • If your vehicle won't turn over and the starter will not even attempt to turn the flywheel with a properly charged battery, you likely have other issues that this part cannot solve. See this link for problems unrelated to fuel pump relays.
  • Must be used with a TIPM-7 series fuse box.  See our applicable vehicle chart above to confirm if this part will fit.  It's normal to have mini-blade and cartridge fuses in different locations on this style TIPM, depending on your vehicle options and model.

LED Feedback

The circuit board contains four LEDs that provide feedback to the user.  These LEDs draw very little current, and will not be illuminated when the vehicle is off.

  1. Green RUN/START LED - This LED will be illuminated when the +12 VDC run/start signal is available across the M37 fuse, indicating the engine is starting or running.  +12 VDC power is only supplied to the fuel pump if the run/start signal and ASD ground connection are both present.
  2. Green ASD RELAY - Indicates the Auto Shut Down (ASD) relay ground connection is present on the K10 ASD relay.  +12 VDC power is only supplied to the fuel pump if the run/start signal and ASD ground connection are both present.
  3. Green PUMP ON LED -  If our part is working properly, +12 VDC power is present at the M25 20 amp fuse and to the fuel pump, which will illuminated this LED.  If it is not illuminated, no power is provided to your fuel pump.  If your vehicle will not start while this LED is illuminated, you may have a fuel pump or other unrelated problem.
  4. Green ORIG RLY LED - Will be illuminated when the +12 VDC signal supplied via the original fuel pump relay inside your TIPM is detected.  If the original fuel pump relay +12 VDC signal is intermittent or not present (an indication that it’s faulty), this LED will NOT be lit.  LED feedback is used to determine if the vehicle's original fuel pump relay is faulty at one moment in time.  Note that relays often fail intermittently, therefore, this LED ideally needs to be viewed multiple times at different time periods.

1) After installation, a "NO FUSE" light is illuminated on my instrument panel. Can it be fixed?

Answer: Yes. Simply push down on your J13 fuse (with white bezel). This fuse is sometimes lifted up during the installation of the part and it must be pushed down when complete. J13 is your Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse that is normally lifted up to prevent battery drainage during long periods of time where the vehicle is not used (ie. while at the airport during long vacations). Push it down all the way and all should be fine.

J13 fuse location

2) When I turn my car off, no LEDs are lit. Is this a problem?

Answer: It's completely normal.  As you cycle your key to the ACC position, you'll see the ASD LED illuminate for two seconds.  In the ON/RUN position, no lights will illuminate.  During engine starting or while running, you'll see the RUN/START, ASD, and PUMP ON green LEDs illuminate under normal conditions.  The ORIG RELAY LED will only illuminate while starting or running if your OEM fuel pump relay is working at that moment in time.

3)  The fuel pump relay inside my TIPM is faulty and stuck in the on position (draining my battery). When I install the TIPM Plug-In Relay System™ (ASD), will this present a problem?

Answer: Not at all. Our system is designed to completely disconnect a faulty fuel pump relay from the fuel pump circuit. With our part, your old faulty relay is not connected to the fuel pump in any way.  Our part was designed to resolve situations where fuel pump relays remain stuck in the on position or when they fail to allow power to reach the fuel pump.

4) My car still won't start after installing your system. What should I check?

  1. Verify the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) J13 fuse with a white bezel around it is pushed down all the way. This fuse is shown in images above.  During installation, this fuse may have been lifted up slightly to allow for installation of the TIPM Plug-In Relay System™ (ASD).
  2. Visually check the three fuses (M25, M37, and M30) that were removed from your TIPM and inserted into our TIPM Plug-In Relay System™ (ASD) to ensure they're not blown.
  3. Ensure your K10 Omron relay was reinstalled in your fuse box and you see the ASD LED light up for two seconds when cycling the key to the ACC position.
  4. Have you checked your fuel pump to confirm it is working? See our installation video for details.  You can also hear the fuel pump if the vehicle is located in a quiet environment.
  5. Verify the top three LEDs are illuminated during the engine cranking process and while the engine is running. Illumination of the PUMP ON green LED indicates power is being sent to your fuel pump.  If this LED is illuminated, the system is working properly and the problem is elsewhere within your vehicle.
  6. Make sure you don't already have an external relay installed. If you do, change the external relay. If you allowed your dealer to cut harness wires under the TIPM, our TIPM Plug-In Relay System™ (ASD) will not work.  This mostly affects 2011-2013 Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles.
  7. A fuel pump pressure test is one additional item to check.
  8. Check/replace your camshaft and/or crankshaft sensors and perform a fuel pump pressure test. There are dozens of things that can prevent a vehicle from starting, beyond the fuel pump relay issue that our TIPM Plug-In Relay System™ (ASD) was designed to solve.
  9. Do you have gas in the vehicle? Is your fuel gauge working properly?
  10. If someone inserted a fuse tap, temporary wire, or other bypass device in your M25/M37/M30 fuse slots, the fuse box terminals might be too wide to properly grab our part.  You can test for this by inserting a fuse into the affected slot.  If the fuse feels loose, tighten the fuse box terminals.
  11. If your vehicle routinely requires 4-6 seconds to start after sitting for long periods of time, you may have a faulty fuel pump check valve. This check valve maintains the fuel pressure in the lines between the fuel pump and your engine. This video explains more.
  12. There are dozens of things that can prevent a vehicle from starting, which our TIPM Plug-In Relay System™ (ASD) was not designed to solve. If you turn your key and nothing happens, you do not have a fuel pump relay issue and should focus on the starter, starter relay, or battery connections.
  13. If you’re experiencing a stalling while driving problem and the vehicle will only restart after 10-30 minutes, you may have a Star connector, PCM integrated circuit, thermal expansion, or other electrical issue.

5) My remote start isn't working or the vehicle shuts down after a few seconds when using remote start. What causes this?

Answer: Our TIPM Plug-In Relay Systems™ work perfectly with remote start and we often find that these types of problems are the result of the vehicle disabling remote start capabilities before or after the starting process. Most vehicles will disable remote start if all of the following conditions are not met:

  1. Check engine light not illuminated
  2. Shift lever in PARK
  3. Doors closed
  4. Hood closed
  5. HAZARD switch off
  6. BRAKE switch inactive (brake pedal not pressed)
  7. Ignition key removed from ignition switch
  8. Battery at an acceptable charge level
  9. Remote keyless entry PANIC button not pressed
  10. Fuel meets minimum requirement

The engine can be started two consecutive times (two 15-minute cycles) with the remote keyless entry transmitter. However, the ignition switch must be cycled to the ON/RUN position before you can repeat the start sequence for a third cycle. With our TIPM Plug-In Relay Systems™ in place, remote start problems are normally attributable to one or more of the items listed above if you can start your vehicle with a key or pushbutton, but not with the keyfob.

6) When I turn the key or push the starter button, nothing happens.  Sometimes my vehicle stalls while driving and I lose all power.  Is this part at fault?

Answer:  No.  When a vehicle has no power or starter activity, then it's normally an electrical issue elsewhere in the vehicle.  Our part simply delivers power to the fuel pump and does not affect the starter's ability to rotate the engine via the flywheel or deliver power to the entire vehicle.  We might suggest the following:

  1. Verify proper battery voltage when at rest (12.5 VDC normally) and while running (14.0 VDC roughly).
  2. Verify that battery cables are securely connected with no corrosion.
  3. Your starter could be the problem if no activity occurs when you turn the key or push the starter button, as we experienced a similar issue with our test vehicle (2011 Durango).
  4. Check starter relay on top of TIPM.  Swap it with a similar to relay to see if things change.
  5. Try your alternate key fob.  The original key fob might have low battery voltage and the vehicle won't start due to not detecting it.

7)  Will my remote start and safety mechanisms be affected by this device?

Answer:  Users will maintain full functionality of their remote start.  Cold weather or low temperatures will not affect this system.   This part will turn off power to your fuel pump during a crash when the engine stops rotating.  Please visit our Safety page for details.

8) The bottom plastic cover or other parts have melted after driving. What causes this?

Answer:  Your M25 or M37 fuse slot was likely damaged prior to installing our part.  We've seen this before in situations where customers or prior owners of the vehicle have inserted fuse taps or widened the fuse terminals in their TIPM due to repeated use/insertion/removal/testing.  Widened fuse terminals inside your TIPM can create a temperature hot spot due the terminals of our part or a fuse not being able to make enough surface area contact. The 9 amps flowing to your fuel pump requires that your TIPM terminals be tight, pushed together, and secure. The solution is to remove all fuses/relays and the top of your TIPM, remove the top portion of your TIPM, then crimp the terminals back together with a pair of pliers.  Reaching the terminals without removing the top portion of your TIPM is extremely difficult.
